Overview: Vangold has nine licenses that are positioned adjacent to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) - Uganda border. Vangold staked areas that cover the known gold showings in the Ugandan greenstone belt 150km east of the Kilo Moto goldfields in the DRC. Anglo Ashanti and Moto Gold Mines are currently undertaking major exploration in the area on the DRC side. Resource delineation drilling by Anglogold Ashanti at their Mongbwalu mine has resulted in an inferred mineral resource of 33Mt @ 2.68g/t Au for 2.93 million ounces of gold. Drilling and soil sampling by Moto Gold mines at their properties have yielded superior results. In March 2008, Cube Consulting Pty Ltd completed an independent technical review which included a revised resource estimate covering Moto Mines' Karagba, Chauffeur and Durba (KCD), as well as the Pakaka and Sessenge Deeps deposits. These deposits consist of parallel stacked tabular lenses and shoots. Combined they hold (NI 43-101 compliant) indicated mineral resources of 95.3 Mt at 3.6 g/t Au for 10.3 Moz and inferred mineral resources of 96.5 Mt at 3.6 g/t Au for 11.3 Moz of gold.
History: The Kilo-Moto greenstone belt has a history of gold production dating back to 1902. Three of the deposits in the area, Gorumbwa, Agbarabo and Durba, which were exploited primarily in the 1950s and 1960s by the Belgians, have alone produced more than 60% of the +3 million ounces of recorded production from the Moto area. Most of the remainder of production has come from placer, alluvial and small oxide-zone workings. Many of the past-producing high-grade gold mines in the Moto greenstone belt fall within a 7km by 5km area near the towns of Doko and Durba (the "Durba Gold Camp"). It is estimated that approximately 11 million ounces of gold have been produced from the mines within the Kilo-Moto portion of the Kibalian terrain.
Geology: The rocks to be investigated are Proterozoic metavolcanics and amphibolites which may host shear-zone hosted gold in quartz vein deposits. Occurrences of placer gold are known; no bedrock sources of gold have been found to date. These strata trend southwesterly from the DRC where important gold deposits are under development.
Past Work Programs: In March of 2007 an Airborne Geophysical program was launched. The program consisted of 700,000 line kilometers of magnetic and radiometric data collection to get a better understanding of the geological outlay of Uganda.
Current and Future Work Programs: Phase I reconnaissance work has been completed and consisted of prospecting, geological mapping and sampling across the 9 licenses. A total of 200 samples has been collected, of which 33 samples are from a highly prospective zone that extends approximately 3km by 500m trending roughly north-south and is likely a shear zone. This zone is located entirely within Vangold's license and is hosted within Kibalian-type metavolcanics and metasediments which in the adjacent northeastern DRC are host to the multimillion ounce deposits of the Kilo-Moto Goldfields. Danae, P.Geo. andVP Exploration for Vangold Voormeij believes this indicates a geological continuity of the Kilo-Moto Kibalian greenstone belt within Uganda.
The samples have been dropped off at the SGS prep lab in Entebbe and will be shipped directly to the SGS lab in Mwanza, Tanzania, where they will be analyzed for Au, Cu and As. Results from Phase I will determine the focus for Phase II which will consist of detailed soil grids, trenching, and further mapping to define drill targets.

![]() Click to Enlarge Looking northwest. Red strata are mica schists, brown are BIF and Itabirite. Green are amphibolites, topo high in West is Mount Zeu. Mount Zeu is on the Congo side. Evidence of past drilling on Mount Zeu was found. Black quartz and blue quartz veins. Red for felsic dyke. Cataclastic quartz veins (yellow stars) are restricted to units stratigraphically above the BIFs, in siltstones(?) and metavolcanics, as well as near fault and shear zones. |
